FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) First Robotics is an international program designed to inspire young people to become leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through engaging, hands-on robotics competitions. Founded by inventor Dean Kamen in 1989, the program combines the excitement of sports with the rigors of STEM education to develop critical skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation.

How FIRST Robotics Provides STEM Opportunities:
1. Real-World Problem Solving**: Students work in teams to design, build, and program robots to complete specific challenges within a set timeframe. This encourages practical application of STEM concepts, fostering creativity and technical skills.

2. Mentorship and Collaboration**: Teams are guided by industry professionals and educators who provide mentorship, exposing students to real-world STEM careers and professionals.

3. Diverse Learning Tracks**: FIRST offers various programs tailored to different age groups, including:
-FIRST LEGO League** for younger students, focusing on introductory robotics and coding.
-FIRST Tech Challenge** for middle and high school students, involving more complex engineering and programming.
-FIRST Robotics Competition**, often called the “varsity sport for the mind,” for high school students, emphasizing advanced engineering and teamwork.

4 Scholarship Opportunities**: FIRST participants can access millions of dollars in scholarships provided by universities and companies, opening doors to higher education and STEM careers.

5. **Inclusive Environment**: FIRST actively promotes diversity and inclusion, encouraging students from all backgrounds to participate and thrive in STEM.

Minority Tech Alliance's Role:

As a partner organization in the Northeast Ohio region, **Minority Tech Alliance** plays a pivotal role in supporting FIRST Robotics by organizing and providing **judging for competitions**. Judges evaluate teams not only on technical performance but also on teamwork, innovation, and community impact.

By participating in these efforts, the Minority Tech Alliance helps:
- Ensure equitable access to STEM opportunities.
- Celebrate student achievements in a competitive yet supportive environment.
- Inspire underrepresented communities to pursue STEM education and careers, fostering a more inclusive pipeline for future innovators.

Through this partnership, Minority Tech Alliance amplifies the impact of FIRST Robotics in Northeast Ohio, empowering students to embrace STEM and equipping them with the skills to succeed in the 21st-century workforce.
