2025 Summer Internship Training

This summer, the Minority Tech Alliance teamed up with Cleveland Public Schools, Cleveland State University, and Digital C to give students a hands-on introduction to one of today’s fastest-growing technologies: Drones.
Through 2 weeks of intensive and guided training, students gained the knowledge and skills to operate drones safely and responsibly.
Each student completed the FAA Drone Pilot TRUST Certification, legally licensing them to fly drones recreationally. This certification is more than just a credential—it’s the first step toward earning their FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot License, opening doors to careers in aviation, technology, logistics, and beyond.
"I never thought I’d get the chance to fly drones as part of school. Now, I feel like I’m working toward a real career."
This program is more than training—it’s a pathway to opportunity. By exposing students to cutting-edge drone technology, we’re building the next generation of innovators right here in Cleveland.
MTS is empowering young people to explore new horizons, giving them the skills and certifications to succeed in tomorrow’s workforce.
The sky is no longer the limit—it’s just the beginning

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)
On May 13, 2025, DriveOhio—a division of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)—hosted a statewide webinar featuring Chelsey Kohn from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and me from Minority Tech Alliance. During the webinar, we shared details about our respective STEM educational programs and announced an exciting collaboration on a summer initiative.
This joint program will introduce students to the fundamentals of aviation and autonomous mobility and prepare them to pursue a drone pilot certification. Participants will earn the FAA TRUST certificate and receive foundational training to help them pursue the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, a full commercial drone pilot license.
Case Western Reserve Collaboration
Minority Tech is collaborating with Case Western Reserve University's Interactive Commons Lab on their groundbreaking XR program, CWRUXR, an innovative application set to revolutionize VR/XR development.
This image highlights a foundational simple XR experience as seen through Microsoft HoloLens at the CWRU Interactive Commons Lab. CWRUXR, pronounced "CRUISER," is an innovative application developed by Case Western researchers. It simplifies the development of VR/XR applications, lowers costs, and ensures seamless simultaneous accessibility across various platforms and devices, including PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, Meta Quest, HTC, HoloLens, Apple Vision Pro, DESTEK, Reyneo, and more.
